2016 Academy Awards Menswear
At this year's 88th Academy Awards, there were plenty of Hollywood's finest actors keeping it classic in their black tuxedos but we also saw a lot of fun looks like Kevin Hart's bedazzled Dolce & Gabbana, Jared Leto's floral "bow tie" and we loved Chris Rock's James Bond white dinner jacket and black pants! Blue Tuxedos Mark Ruffalo Mark Ruffalo's navy Valentino tuxedo coat with black pants was on trend next to his wife's black and gold chiffon gown. Blue is a little more daring for the Oscars but he kept it classic with a black bow tie. His electric blue tuxedo was a little matchy matchy with a blue tie in the exact same color as the lapels, we would have preferred a black bow tie but at least he didn't wear blue shoes! He really stood out against all the black looks and he just made this James Bond style look so cool. Jared Leto Jared Leto's Oscar's look was not one of our best dressed but we included it because this is a fashion recap and it is definitely noteworthy. We are pretty shocked that Gucci designed this seemingly Flamenco-inspired-tuxedo with red piping on a black coat with a black shirt and red flower "bow tie," wow! 2016 Oscars Academy Awards Jared Leto - wmagazine.com Image credit: Steve Granitz/WireImage, wmagazine.com Kevin Hart Kevin Hart really went for the embellished crystal look with black crystals lining his black Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo! But at least he kept his accessories simple wearing all black and a black diamond shaped bow tie. 2016 Oscars Academy Awards Kevin Hart wearing a black bedazzled black Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo. black tuxedo with black shirt and black bow tie Image credit: fashionista.com Tom Hardy Mad Max and The Revenant star Tom Hardy went with a shiny fabric (silk perhaps?) black tuxedo, not our favorite but it was interesting to see his shiny suit next to his wive's shiny black dress with gorgeous black lace. 2016 Oscars Academy Awards Tom Hardy shiny black tuxedo with aviators Image credit: eonline.com Eddie Redmayne Eddie's black Valentino velvet coat is more of a subtle uniqueness but his tuxedo fits his slim silhouette to a T like always! 2016 Oscars Academy Awards Eddie Redmayne black velvet tuxedo Image credit: eonline.com Classic Black Tuxedos Leonardo DiCaprio The big man of the night, Leonardo DiCaprio, had to keep his look timeless since this was the night that he could, and did, finally win an Oscar! His Georgio Armani tuxedo had a wide peak lapel and just one button, it was about as classic of a style as you can find. And he finished off the look with Christian Louboutin shoes. Jordan If you've ever heard of a double breasted coat and wondered what it was, here is an example. We don't see them often but Michael B. Jordan opted to wear a black wide shawl lapel tuxedo by Ralph Lauren Purple label, we are sure it is a brand new garment but the look is super retro! He paired a white bow tie with his black tux, a look you often find on a groom who is matching a bride's white gown, but we are pretty sure he didn't marry Eva Mendes last night after the Oscars!
