2017 Academy Awards Best Dressed Men

While most people are talking about that shocking ending at last nights Oscars, we are here to change it up and talk about our best dressed men. When it comes to award shows and the red carpet, the Academy Awards are the biggest night in Hollywood hands down. It is the night celebrities bring their A-game and best style to the red carpet, while keeping their looks more formal and traditional than other red carpet events. Last night was no exception! The biggest celebrities "wowed" us with the latest trends and fashion forward styles for the Oscars. Let's take a look at which stars stuck to the traditional black tuxedo look and which ones dared to be different.

Classic Black Tuxedo

Shop our for black suits and tuxedos for purchase and for rent .

Let's start with the traditional black tuxedo look that can never go out of style, and Andrew Garfield looks pretty close to perfect in his black tuxedo and black bow tie. We also love the peak lapel! Everything about his look is clean and classic, and basically a safe bet to land on our best dressed list. His coat has satin detail on the cuffs, an uncommon twist to add interest.

Can we just talk about how perfect Ryan Gosling is?! He continues to look his best on the red carpet with a black tuxedo that has a textured velvet lapel and ruffled dress shirt, he can do no wrong.

Adding texture to the classic black tuxedo look is a very subtle way to stand out from the crowd, and who better to demonstrate this look than Justin Timberlake! He started the night off with a bang by performing his nominated song "Can't Stop the Feeling" from the movie Trolls. It's no surprise he would show up on the red carpet looking as dapper as ever.

Mahershala Ali went for an all black look that is another way to change up from the classic tuxedo look, while still being formal and stylish. He won an Oscar for his role in Moonlight, which also ended up being the winner for Best Picture. His gingham plaid pocket square is an interesting accessory for his all black look that makes it unique.

Pharrell Williams took his black tuxedo look to a whole new level with a tail coat and all kinds of bling! Underneath all his accessories he went with a classic black bow tie which was good for this style. We also love his lapel pin!

We absolutely love the look that David Oyelowo decided to go with for the Oscars this year. A white tuxedo coat with black lapels and black pants make the look stand out from the solid white jackets. This is actually one of the styles we predicted to see on the red carpet this year so we are glad that David Oyelowo was able to showcase it!

We all know to expect great style from Ryan Seacrest and every year he shows his best styles! How can he not when he is interviewing all the celebrities on the red carpet about their style. He also went with a white dinner jacket and added a little different style with a dark burgundy bow tie.

Dev Patel went with an ivory peak lapel coat and black tuxedo pants with a black bow tie and black patent leather shoes.  His shirt is just slightly lighter ivory than his coat which looks perfect.

Blue

We carry both blue tuxedos and blue suits for rent and for purchase.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson followed a trend we have been seeing more and more this year with a velvet jacket and black tuxedo pants. Adding a velvet jacket to the standard tuxedo pants is a great way to add texture without going too over the top. We definitely keep seeing more and more velvet on the red carpet, and we love the color blue of his jacket.

We love this navy blue tuxedo look from Aldris Hodge, who also matched his bow tie with the color of his tuxedo. Blue is such a popular trend and we love when celebrities rock such a stylish blue tuxedo look and Aldris added a chain to make the look his own.

La La LOVE! Damien Chazelle, who won Best Directing for his film La La Land, showed up to the red carpet looking sharp! We love the color of his blue tuxedo with a black fish mouth notch lapel, and the white bow tie made it different than how we typically see celebs wear a blue tuxedo. He looked amazing standing next to his date who wore a beautiful light purple dress.

Another blue tuxedo look we are loving is from Chris Evans, most known for his role as Captain America in the Marvel franchise. He stood out in the sea of blue with a lighter look that looked great with a black lapel contrast.

Blue with blue lapels-  Riz Ahmed also decided to go blue but did everything blue with a matching bow tie. Luckily he wore black shoes...  This style would also look good with a classic black or white bow tie.
