Inside Scoop on How to Style Your Engagement Shoot from Friar Tux's Own @suitup_with_brett

We are so excited to congratulate our good friend, and Friar Tux District Manager, Brett Symonds (@suitup_with_brett) on his recent engagement!  Brett is one of the best stylists in the biz and we were honored to share his amazing engagement photos with his ever stunning fiancé.

We thought we would get the inside scoop on all things ‘engagement’ from this Friar Tux professional.  So come with us as we get the tips and style ideas from Brett himself:

What was your style inspo for your engagement shoot?

We were looking for something that had a sense of “casual elegance” as we like to call it. The Caramel Suit came out not too long ago and Amanda was actually drawn to it before I was! It really did turn out to be the perfect suit to blend with her navy dress in an elegant, yet rustic tone. Fall Is our favorite time of year and so it made sense to have our engagement photos taken with all of the fall colors incorporated.

How did you find/pick your photographer for your shoot? (friend, Instagram, a preferred vendor?)

Fortunately, our photographer is a relative who gave us an amazing deal, and gave us access to ALL of our pictures. Being that we knew her personally, it made it extremely easy to be ourselves, which sometimes is hard in front of a camera. Her name is Meghan Wiesman and she is incredible!

For grooms planning what to wear for their big day, what is some advice you can give them?

One of my first pieces of advice would be to be confident in what you choose, and make sure that you listen to your bride when it comes to her advice on colors. Purchasing is a GREAT option through Friar Tux, especially for the groom. Having the ability to get your suit or tuxedo tailored, will have you feeling confident and comfortable on the most important day of your life! 

What are your favorite looks we currently have?

I really like the Michael Kors line with the performance fabric. I will be purchasing the Black Tuxedo in the performance fabric, and my groomsmen will be wearing the Asphalt Grey in this fabric. I have some bigger guys in my party and the fact that Friar Tux carries sizes that can accommodate not just my 4 year old nephew, but my heavier set friends as well is amazing. The size range is just incredible here. 

For the whole wedding style process, is there something you want to tell future customers? Any inside tips? 

To make sure the process goes smooth, I absolutely recommend making sure the the couple goes in alone for the initial appointment. Trying to make a decision will be difficult with too many opinions there with you. I would make sure to keep it more intimate for you and your future partner. The great part about Friar Tux is that you can still set up a group fitting appointment, and bring your party in and watch them all get fit for their outfit for your big day! Also, make sure that your groomsmen get their measurements in on time, and are on time for doing their final fittings to ensure the fit is correct.
