Unique Boutonnière Ideas
Traditionally, a boutonnière is a single flower worn by men on special occasions. The word boutonnière actually means "buttonhole" in French. There is some confusion about where to place a boutonnière, we oftentimes see it too high or too low on the lapel or sometimes even on the coat by the breast pocket! When considering where to pin a boutonnière on a coat, remember the original meaning of boutonnière and that it should be placed through the buttonhole of the lapel, or if your lapel does not have a hole, the boutonnière should go where the hole would be on the left lapel.
Boutonnières often time get overlooked because it is a small detail out of the grand scheme of things on your wedding day. But boutonnières are that extra touch of style that make your outfit complete whether it's inspired by the sea, your hobbies or a themed celebration! Boutonnières aren't limited to just weddings. You can use them for school dances like prom, winter formal, or for your quinceanera! We hope you enjoy these unique ideas!
