Vasquez Rocks Nature Inspired Wedding
Creative Direction:
I wanted to create images that define who I am as a photographic artist. It was important to me that the bride and groom be an actual couple, so their connection was something the viewer could really feel. The location also had to be as powerful as the love between them, and represent a desire for adventure. Vasquez Rocks are 25 million years old, caused by the collision of the North American and Pacific tectonic plates. They are ancient, the bones of the earth, and yet still younger than the dinosaurs. Much like photography, they are a frozen moment in time, only one that we can still physically explore.
I was inspired by my own wedding this past year, and styled a tribute to future bride and grooms who want to feel the love and magic every time they look at their images. A wedding is a huge milestone in a couple's journey together, and it is an honor to be able to capture their visual legacy.
About the Photographer:
Abigail Collins, a wedding and portrait photographer, views each shoot as a completely unique, collaborative adventure. Often set in a beautiful landscape, every client contributes their own essence in creating images that not only document the time they share together, but tell a visual story of who they are. She captures the in-between moments in an artistic, inspirational style. In love with the nature of California, she is based in Los Angeles and always looking forward to her next creative destination.
Our Style Notes:
The dramatic, natural landscape of this wedding elopement style shoot really dictated the bride and groom's attire, as a venue typically does. The bride's floral crown and cascading bouquet give a bohemian, natural nod to the rustic terrain. The groom's grey suit with a tan striped tie gives a softer, earth tone feel which looked coordinated against the rock formations. The groom's grey suit would be perfect for a spring, summer or fall wedding in this location and the bride could adapt her flower colors to match the season as well.
