The Modern Mix & Match

When it comes to your special day why not rock a look that is truly your own?  That’s why we are here to talk about one of our favorite trends: the mix and match look!

Combining 2 different suit/tuxedo colors or styles to create on amazing fashion moment.  See below just some of the many ways to combine our rental collections for your special day.

Mixing Fabrics

One way to create a fun look is by mixing your fabrics.  This could be with a velvet coat or satin style, to bring the different fabric variations out.  Like below, we love how this groom styled a Burgundy Velvet Tuxedo coat with a pair of matte tan pants to create a desert bohemian moment.  Paired with a bolo tie for some added flare, this look stole our wild hearts.

Similar Tones

Another way to create a unique mix and match look is by combining similar toned colors.  All colors and fabrics have a warm or cool undertone to them.  By combining a coat and pants with the same cool or warm tone creates a cohesive, yet understated color combo.

This groom created a tropical Bali inspired groom look by wearing a Green Notch Lapel Coat with a pair of café brown pants.  By adding a tropical-floral boutonnière the whole look was pulled together for this whimsical wedding.

Monochromatic

Now, anyone who says “monochromatic” means boring is simply disturbed.  Monochromatic means a whole world of shades to play with!  Using the same color in different shades to create a look is perfection.  Try a light blue coat and light blue pants, or a caramel coat with tan pants…the same color family but in different shades to make one simple style.

This groom went with a dark and moody look for his Halloween inspired wedding by wearing an Asphalt Grey Suit coat and Heather Grey pants.  He brightened up his look with a white floral necktie and pocket square.

High + Low Contrast

Now, pretty much the opposite from monochromatic is the mixture of high + low contrasting colors to create a look.  By combining something that has a brighter tone to it, with something with a low/cool tone to it you can get one stellar fashion moment.

For this groom’s industrial 1920s inspired wedding he paired an Ivory Paisley Tuxedo with a pair of green pants, creating a look even Gatsby would cheers to.  We love the combination of the green velvet bow tie to tie to look together.

Pop of Color

Sort of like the high and low contrast style, this one packs a punch! Add a pop of color with a more neutral tone to make a statement on your special day. At Friar Tux we carry many colors for you to choose from to pull together this look: light blue, cobalt blue, green, gold, ect.

This groom chose the bright Rose Pink suit coat paired with tan pants for his spring time nuptials at a winery.

Creating a Color Story

For this last combo creation, we pulled out all the stops.  These grooms complimented their mix and match looks together to create one cohesive color story of blues, greys, and tans.  We are so obsessed, if you have not noticed (we have posted about this gorgeous wedding inspo several times lately).

The first groom mixed a light blue coat with tan pans.  He complimented his look with a blue floral long tie to bring in the darker tones.  The second groom wore a dark blue coat with asphalt grey pants playing with the similar tones to create a look.

We love how these grooms used two different ways of mix and match but in similar colors to have one fashion story that worked gorgeously at their chalet-inspired wedding.
