From the bride: Jon and I met in Japan where we were both living and teaching English. There's a tradition in Japanese culture that if you fold 1,000 cranes then your wish or dream will come true. So with the help of my friends and family we folded the blue birds (over champagne, a couple of at-home brunches, and many hours of Netflix) and strung them with beads on fishing wire. This was definitely the most time consuming and challenging yet rewarding part of our process. Blush is a very popular color right now for bridesmaids dresses and it's what I originally wanted for them, to go along with the blush and peach flowers, and it accented the strong cobalt color nicely. My advice to future brides is to consider your bridesmaids body type and skin tone because not everyone feels comfortable in certain cuts, and some colors just don't look right. I decided to go with cobalt which looks good on everyone and the dress shop had several styles made in the same fabric and I let them choose what they thought was best for their body type. It was pretty natural that our wedding would be travel themed. We collected suitcases, globes, postcards, and old-timey travel themed figurines. I came across a beautiful cobalt vase at a vintage shop and that's how I decided that my color would be cobalt blue. I had my friends and family keep their eyes out for cobalt glass to decorate the tables with and ended up with a massive amount, enough for 4 pieces per table.
