When photographer Kate and I brainstormed for this inspiration shoot after having connected through Instagram (the power of social media in bringing likeminded people together!), we easily agreed that an “ethereal garden tea party” was precisely what we had in mind. Soft and romantic, elegant and light and airy, all set in a lush garden backdrop. Really, I think we just wanted to spend the day in a beautiful, serene garden and call it a day’s work. Ultimately, our goal was to share our idea of a relaxed, low-key wedding experience, something that would engage the guests’ senses and be absolutely enjoyable without being the elaborate, stressful production weddings sometimes end up being. We had so much fun assembling the details for this garden affair – some of my favorites included the two stunning yet understated gowns from Lovely Bride. A flowy, off-the-shoulder number in a soft, peachy blush by Sarah Seven (which just floated in the breeze) and an elegant yet playful sheer lace gown with leafy detailing by Rue de Seine that was absolutely stunning and fitting in the garden setting. Both of which were really quite comfy and lightweight – the antithesis of the ballroom wedding gown, perfect for the low-key bride.
